micro blog: drink that i made on a whim before bed to get to sleep that tasted profound and eye opening
- 20oz water
- chamomile and passionflower (i used both a biiiig pinch of my own dried Egyptian chamomile and a traditional medicinals brand "organic nighty night" sachel which contains: chamomile, passionflower, linden flower, catnip herb, hop strobile, spearmint leaf, lemon verbena leaf, lemon peel, west Indian lemongrass leaf)
- 5 or 6 fresh concord grapes
- spoonful of acacia honey
beat up the grapes a little and then simmer it all (- the honey) for like 4 minutes then squeeze the grapes to get the rest of the juice out, add the honey, drink.
the grape was the random part, we have huge boxes of them sitting out because we just harvested them from our vine the day before, and i just grabbed a handful washed them a bit mushed them a bit and threw them in
i think a big factor in why this brought me such a profound feeling is that i was raised Methodist? Welch's grape juice has a strong concord flavor and was created specifically for Methodist communion, which i participated in for some ten odd years during my littlest days. dont use this knowledge to hack my brain. i described the tea as leaving me "wrapped in the arms of a mother I never met"
metalure tip: you can diy a tea bag with a coffee filter if you have something to bind it (like hemp twine, idk just some random string, idk, a twist tie? clothes pin? potato chip bag clamp?) or just boil everything open in the water and filter it afterwards but this can get messy because if you put a filter over a cup there's capillary action that will: take your tea, bring it vertically up the filter walls, and drip it around the outside of your cup. no good
